Team History
The history of the Roush Fenway Racing team is varied. The team has won more than 400 races, including more than 30 championships, and has had many successful drivers. Roush formed his first NASCAR Cup Series team with driver Mark Martin in 1988. Roush and Martin won their first NASCAR Cup Series race at North Carolina Motor Speedway in October 1989. From then, the two would go on to forge one of NASCAR’s most successful relationships. Martin was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in January 2017 after winning 35 NASCAR Cup Series races with Roush.
Roush Racing and the Boston Red Sox’s owners, the Fenway Sports Group, announced a joint venture and the foundation of Roush Fenway Racing in 2007. The partnership brought together two championship companies with remarkable track histories of achievement in sports to form a single, formidable squad with the resources, skill, and horsepower required to maintain an elite place in NASCAR. Chris Buescher
The switch in crew chiefs and road crews for the Roush Fenway Racing team is a welcome one, but it’s not a complete overhaul. The team has been successful with Buescher in recent years, and it’s great to see a familiar face on the box for the next race. Currently, Buescher has five career Cup starts, including a fifth-place finish at Dover last year. His previous two starts have averaged 19.3 points. He has also been competitive at the COTA and Daytona tracks, finishing 11th and 13th, respectively.
The No. 17 Roush Fenway Ford Mustang will be driven by Chris Buescher in Sunday’s Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The young driver joined Roush Fenway as a developmental driver in 2009 and earned his bones as a junior driver. The talented Buescher has since won four Xfinity Series races. Buescher, who made his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2012, has been on a steady improvement path. Chris Buescher will still drive the No. 17 Ford Mustang for Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing in 2022 for his third NASCAR cup (NCS) season.
Brad Keselowski
After spending 13 full seasons at NASCAR’s top level, Brad Keselowski is stepping out of Team Penske to reenergize Roush Fenway Racing. Now known as Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing, the team will have a stable of top drivers that includes Brad Keselowski. This new partnership will allow the team to have a competitive edge, and the new driver will be able to capitalize on his experience.
As a leader and an innovator, Brad Keselowski is a man of many talents.
